MoveUkraine is an officially-registered and regulated Ukrainian charity with US and Swiss co-founders. Transparency is fundamental to the charity's work.
We are headed by John Shmorhun – an American Ukrainian executive with over 30 years of international experience, including 20+ years of living and working in Ukraine. His partner is Patricia Shmorhun-Hawrylyshyn, a Swiss Ukrainian entrepreneur and co-founder of the Family Charitable Foundation in Ukraine.
John witnessed the thousands of Ukrainian mothers and children flooding into Western Ukraine. He established MoveUkraine in response to the urgent need to get these people off floors in railway stations, churches, and village halls.
So far, MoveUkraine has raised over $700,000 to house over 8,000 people in emergency shelters in Western Ukraine and has been delivering 60 tons per week of food and medicine to the people most in need in conflict areas in the East of Ukraine.
Our focus is caring for Ukrainian mothers and children while their fathers, husbands, and sons defend the homeland.
Our strengths:
- we get things done fast and efficiently using our business management skills;
- we are well connected to other charities who support us;
- we are hands on, our team resides close to our projects;
- we are trustworthy, with more than 20 years working in transparent businesses in Ukraine.
Our US partner, Applied Hope Foundation, is a U.S. 501(c)3 non-profit that has teamed with MoveUkraine, a Ukrainian NGO, to provide US tax-deductible donations using processes approved by the IRS. Your gift will provide humanitarian shelter and support to displaced families inside Ukraine.
