MoveUkraine initiated this project in 2023 in several of its western Ukraine shelters, under the enthusiastic and energetic leadership of American volunteer Dan Engle. This project gives internally displaced residents a chance to garden again, growing their own fruits and vegetables and planting their favorite flowers. It also creates new spaces for relaxation, social connection, and collective healing. Every garden is a symbol of resilience, renewal, and community strength.
Creating common green spaces and flowerbeds around shelters; planting trees, shrubs, and flowers to bring life and color to the surroundings; installing pathways, benches, and small resting areas; organizing gardening activities that promote social interaction, creativity, and psychological support; and maintaining the gardens so they remain welcoming and peaceful for all residents. Victory Gardens is a place where every tree and flower reminds us that even after the darkest times, hope blooms and life goes on.
Your funds go directly to the projects: building housing and rehabilitation centers for those affected by the war and need help.
