John Shmorhun is an American of Ukrainian descent, founder and CEO of the MoveUkraine charitable foundation. He has over 35 years of experience working in the international arena, nearly three decades of which he has devoted to living and working in Ukraine.
Patricia Shmorhun-Hawrylyshyn is the co-founder of the MoveUkraine charitable foundation, a Swiss-Ukrainian entrepreneur, partner at Porcelain Group (a network of dental and eye clinics in Ukraine), co-founder of Pechersk School International (an IB school in Kyiv), and co-founder of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation.
MoveUkraine is an officially registered and regulated charity in Ukraine, and it also holds registration in Switzerland as a charitable foundation.
The idea to establish the MoveUkraine charity foundation was born in the first days of the full-scale invasion, when John witnessed the heartbreaking sight of thousands of Ukrainian mothers and children flooding into Western Ukraine. Seeking refuge, many were forced to sleep on the floors of railway stations, churches, schools, and village halls. Moved by their resilience and the scale of the humanitarian crisis, John was determined to act. On May 18, 2022, he officially founded MoveUkraine to provide displaced people with safe, dignified living conditions — and hope for rebuilding their lives.
So far, MoveUkraine has raised over $4,900,000, providing homes for 1271 Ukrainians in more than 22 buildings all over Ukraine.
All of those new homes were built and refurbished by MoveUkraine and ensures dignified living conditions for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
MoveUkraine cares for internally displaced Ukrainians who have lost their homes and need support. We create modern rehabilitation centers for veterans and people affected by war, helping them restore their health, strength, and hope for a better future.
