A year ago, in the small village of Shevchenkove in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, a shelter for internally displaced Ukrainians was opened. This place has become a symbol of hope and renewal for many families who were forced to leave their homes due to the war. Thanks to the initiative and tireless work of the MoveUkraine team, 28 people have found not only a roof over their heads here but also a community that supports them in difficult times.
Each story here is a story of struggle, hope, and resilience. For example, Yevhenia, the manager of this shelter, and her two children came here from Kharkiv. With the shelter’s help, Yevhenia and her husband were able to start their own business and provide everything their children needed. Or 97-year-old Maria, who received a cozy and comfortable home and continues to find joy in every day of her life.
“When we opened this shelter, we couldn’t have imagined how important it would become for so many people,” shares Tuscia, co-founder of MoveUkraine. “We are not just building walls; we are building new lives for those who have lost everything.”
The shelter’s anniversary is not just a reason to celebrate but a reminder that each of us can change someone else’s life for the better. Thanks to the support of caring people, donors, and MoveUkraine’s partners, we have been able to create a place where people can rebuild their lives and once again feel at home.
There is still much work ahead, but this year has shown that together, we can overcome any challenges. We will continue our mission, helping those who need it most. Today, we celebrate not just an anniversary but the power of human kindness to change the world.
