On March 24, 2026, a roundtable discussion titled “Human Capital and the Future of Ukraine: Presentation of the Draft State Migration Policy Strategy until 2035” took place at the Ukrinform news agency in Kyiv.
The event brought together representatives of government institutions, academia, trade unions, and civil society. The draft Strategy was developed by researchers from the Ptoukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in cooperation with civil society organizations.
The document focuses on achieving stable demographic development and ensuring the economy is supported by a sufficient workforce. Among the key priorities are creating conditions for decent employment, career growth, and encouraging the return of Ukrainians who were forced to leave the country due to the war. According to available data, over 4.38 million Ukrainians are currently under temporary protection in European Union countries.
During the discussion, participants emphasized the importance of building a balanced and economically oriented migration policy that takes into account the interests of the state, business, and society.
The Director of MoveUkraine, Antonina Berezovenko, also took part in the roundtable. In her speech, she highlighted the foundation’s practical contribution to strengthening human capital in Ukraine. In particular, she spoke about projects aimed at providing housing for internally displaced persons, as well as the key focus of the foundation’s work in 2026 – the development of rehabilitation infrastructure.
MoveUkraine’s initiatives are directly connected to the challenges discussed during the event. Creating conditions for recovery, access to housing, and quality rehabilitation is an essential part of enabling people to remain in Ukraine or return home, rebuild their lives, and reintegrate into society.
Participation in such discussions is an important step toward aligning civil society initiatives with national strategies and shaping sustainable solutions for Ukraine’s future.
